TALS is a 501c3 organization and welcomes donations for various initiatives. Currently there are two active campaigns accepting financial support:

JJ Bannon Lecture Series Endowment Fund.

TALS sponsors the Joseph J. Bannon Lecture as a keynote address for the TALS Annual Conference on Research and Teaching. The address honors the more than sixty years of exceptional contributions Dr. Bannon has provided in developing the field of parks, recreation, and leisure sciences. He has served as a practicing professional, educator, consultant, and book publisher. In each of these roles, he has developed cutting-edge, innovative practices, of which many have become standard operating procedures. The lecture series also encourages continued innovation and excellence in the field.

Dr. Bannon was a founding coeditor of the Journal of Park and Recreation Administration, and he is the founder and president of Sagamore Publishing, now Sagamore-Venture, which provides the field with important literary resources for instruction and practice. Dr. Bannon is an elected fellow in TALS and the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA). He has received the highest honor each academy bestows and is a Distinguished Colleague in TALS and a Legend in AAPRA. The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) awarded him their National Literary Award and their Distinguished Professional Award. He also received the Honorable Cornelius Amory Pugsley Medal, the most prestigious award in parks, recreation, and conservation. Throughout his career, Dr. Bannon has been approachable and always willing to help practitioners and students succeed. TALS will dedicate contributions to the Joseph J. Bannon Lecture to support the annual lecture series and ensure sufficient funds to attract cutting-edge, high-quality speakers($10.00 minimum).

Future Scholars Endowment Fund

The purpose of The Academy's Future Scholars Program is to provide graduate students who are interested in pursuing a doctorate in an area related to recreation and leisure studies the opportunity to meet some of the outstanding researchers and scholars in this field by providing financial assistance to support their participation at the TALS Research and Teaching Institute.
